Economic Development and Green Technology

Category: News & General Info

Published: Friday, September 25, 2009

The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of Southwest California has created a committee on GreenTech. The focus of the committee is to explore the area of Green Technology and what role it has in the region to support economic development. The committee, consisting of the area leaders, has a full agenda.

The EDC of Southwest California is looking for Green Technology Companies in Southwest Riverside County which includes Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, Wildomar, and unincorporated areas in the region, to come forward and participate in advancing Green Technology in the area. It is defining a GreenTech company as a business that provides a product or service that helps others be “green”. The EDC is looking to create a Green Technology database and directory for the region. Please log onto the website www.edcsouthwestcalifornia.com and provide the required information so your company can be included allowing for more exposure for your products and services.

The EDC is also planning a “green component” to the annual Southwest California Business Summit on April 28, 2010. Look for more information in the coming months on this regional event to help local businesses grow their business through procurement opportunities and educational presentations.

To round out the year, the GreenTech committee is partnering with The GreenVenture Institute to explore the possibility of creating an Energy Resource Center in the region. The center is looking to house information on green educational/ vocational programs; financing, and incentive programs; a possible GreenTech business incubator; and a demonstration center exhibiting the latest renewable energy, energy efficient and green building products and services.
